چکیده

This paper describes a dynamic Scheduled Bandwidth Reservation/Fairness MAC control scheme for real-time data (rt-data) service and non-real-time data (nrt-data) service of WLAN condition. It uses a schedule table, which is different from the table of IEEE 802.11, maintained in each station to allocate medium accessing time. It specifies a CYCLE period that includes contention free period (CFP) and contention period (CP). CFP is beginning from a Beacon frame that contains the schedule table. The difference from IEEE 802.11 standard is the CFP used to transmit not only rt-data but also nrt-data and CP is only used to transmit management frame for unrecorded stations to apply to record into the schedule table. Each recorded station would not contend the medium during the CP. And the CP can be used as extension period for rt-data service. It means that if bandwidth is fully filled by rt-data service, then no new station would be allowed to join the WLAN. So it reduces collision sensibly and provides enhanced rt-data service and nrt-data service.

A survey of QoS enhancements for IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN

Quality-of-service (QoS) is a key problem of today’s IP networks. Many frameworks (IntServ, DiffServ, MPLS etc.) have been proposed to provide service differentiation in the Internet. At the same time, the Internet is becoming more and more heterogeneous due to the recent explosion of wireless networks. In wireless environments, bandwidth is scarce and channel conditions are time-varying and so...

Study of Mobility and QoS of 802.11 and 802.11e Wireless LAN Standards

Quality of service (QoS) is a key problem in wireless environments where bandwidth is scarce and channel conditions are time varying and sometimes highly loss. Although IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN (WLAN) is the most widely used WLAN standard today, and the upcoming IEEE 802.11e QoS enhancement standard exists and introduces the QoS for supporting multimedia applications. This paper compares the pr...

An Adaptive Scheduling for QoS Enhancement Mechanism in IEEE 802.11 WLAN

For the problem of QoS in the IEEE802.11DCF, proposed an enhanced adaptive scheduling distributed EASDCF mechanism. Through the largest contention window and retry times, this mechanism provides differentiated services and guarantees the real-time service priority access to the channel with higher probability. Besides, it provides a reliable guarantee for the packet drop rate sensitive service....

Provision of QoS for Multimedia Services in IEEE 802.11 Wireless Network

Implementation of the IEEE 802.11 technology for wireless local area networks (WLANs) has created a new opportunity to support real time and multimedia applications. The IEEE 802.11 defines a Medium Access Control (MAC), and Physical Layers (PHYs), which provides rates from 1 to 54 Mbit/s depending on specification. In IEEE 802.11 network, the PHY rate to be used for the transmission is complet...
